Equipment We Use To Make Precise Metal Cuts in Our Kansas City Fabrication Shop

Our skilled technicians are experienced in several cutting techniques, including:

Laser Cutting

At Gieske, we have a CNC high speed fiber laser capable of working with up to 5’ x 10’ sheets of:

  • Steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Aluminum
  • Copper
  • Brass

Fiber laser cutting is a high speed, high accuracy technique that allows for high detail cutting with a clean and smooth end result. It’s a low-cost option for marking and layout engraving. We use laser cutting for a variety of projects including art work, brackets, decorative work, and as a base component for many of our other projects.

Water Jet Cutting

A water jet cutter can cut nearly anything and can tackle cuts on thick materials. It uses cool cutting rather than a hot edge like a laser cutter and we can achieve a variable cut quality depending on the needs of your project.

Our CNC water jet cutting machine can work with up to 5’ x 12’ sheets, plates, or slabs of almost any material, including:

  • Steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Aluminum
  • Copper
  • Brass
  • Titanium
  • Tungsten
  • Wood
  • Concrete
  • Stone
  • Rock
  • Marble
  • Tile
  • Foam
  • Plastic
  • Garlite
  • And more

    Plasma Shape Processing & Cutting

Our fabrication shop has a CNC plasma shape processing & cutting system capable of cutting up to 6” round and 4” square. The rotation of parts and cutting is CNC controlled, allowing for high speed processing and replicable accuracy.

Our plasma cutting system works with various metal types, including:

    • Steel
    • Stainless steel
    • Aluminum

We often utilize the plasma extrusion system for projects like railings, part cutting, decorative cutouts on shape metal extrusions, and more.

    Shears and Saws

Gieske uses several other techniques and pieces of equipment for metal cutting depending on the project:

    • Hot chop saw: an abrasive blade used for quick cutting on a budget.
    • Cold saw: a solid, slow blade used for high tolerance and accuracy in cuts.
    • 12’ metal plate shears: quick straight cutting of flat metals.
    • Large band saws
