When a project is being planned, the type of metal used must be considered carefully. Depending on the project itself, where it is going, and what it will be used for can determine the type of metal chosen by the fabricators to ensure it is made with the ideal material for its surroundings. Strength, resistance to corrosion, design elements, project application  and are all thought about before the project even begins.

Steel

Steel is one of the most common materials used during metal fabrication. It is an alloy made up of iron and carbon. It is seen as incredibly strong and durable and is used in many facets of fabrication and construction.  Steel can also be easily bent and welded, making it an excellent choice for industrial, commercial and residential uses.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel comprises carbon steel, aluminum and chromium by mass. It is most well-known for its high corrosion resistance and distinct polished metal look. It is perfect for harsh environments and can be found in outdoor applications, food grade areas, home architecture and commericial design.

Aluminum

Aluminum is known to be lightweight and durable and is useful in parts manufacturing and  construction projects. This metal is low density, making it ideal for projects that require a high strength-to-weight ratio.

Brass

Brass is an alloy made out of copper and zinc. It is seen as a corrosion-resistant and easy-to-machine metal that is commonly used in as highlighted design elements, lighting, furniture trim, and other decorative items.

When it comes to any of these metals, they all have the ability to look different with various finishes, such as a brushed finish making a metal look matte, and a mirror finish causing it to be reflective. An angel hair finish will cause a fine swirl effect on the surface which can be great for kitchen hoods or display pieces.
