FAQ
You can call 816-471-2300 and press 9 to speak to one of our estimators but the best method for most projects is to email sales@gieske.com or use our online contact form.
This is project dependent but the more information you can provide the better. Drawings and sketches are the most ideal but pictures and explanations can work on some projects.
Typically quotes take 48 hours to return but it depends on how much information is provided and how large the project scope is. The vast majority of quotes are returned within 1-2 working days.
Once we have all the information and a job is released for fabrication it typically takes around 2 weeks for completion. This is highly dependent upon job, a job that involves a single process like just cutting material can take a day or two while larger fabrication projects or projects requiring special finishing or painting can take longer than 2 weeks.
No. All our jobs are custom made to order and pricing is done at the time of request. We do not have any special pricing structures for wholesale/commercial/private work.
Yes. While most of our work is commercial we do work directly with individuals as well.
Yes, our shop minimum is $ 500.00
Monday through Thursday we are open 6:30 AM to 5:00PM
Friday Thru Sunday we are closed but available for overtime work.
We work with most any metal. We most commonly use steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper and brass. There are specific alloys associated with each of those and we can typically accommodate specific alloy requests but we do not stock all alloys so some alloys will have increased costs associated with them.
On our sheet and plate stock up to 1/4″ thick we stock 3003 alloy. Above 1/4″ thick we typically stock 5052 alloy. We commonly work with 6061 alloy but we do not stock it because we cannot bend 6061 due to it’s hardness.
We stock type 304 stainless in brushed, 2B, and mill finish. We commonly work with type 316 alloy but do not stock it.
We stock A36 steel in multiple finishes. Galvanized, Paintlock, Hot Rolled, Cold Rolled, and Hot Rolled Pickled & Oiled.
We mostly stock 20GA through 3/8″ in most materials.
We do not keep a standard stock of other items but we typically have remnants of multiple types of materials and finishes from pre-finished painted steel to mirror finished brass, anodized aluminums and textured metal.
No. We do not have an inhouse engineer. We do have an engineering firm we work with when required but we have not in house engineers so any engineering service would be added to our pricing if you do not have an engineer but require one.
No. While we can and do provide shop drawings for what we are making and commonly assist in designing things we do not provide a paid service for design work. If your project is all in your mind with no information you can provide for what you are wanting we do not provide conceptual design service. For example, if you need some hand rail made and have an idea what you are wanting, we can help. If you have a widget you want that does X,Y,Z but you don’t know how to get there, we do not provide those kind of design services.
Yes. Upon request we can provide a written 1 year warranty with our projects.
Yes. We are fully capable of field installation of almost all our projects if required but this does add to the lead time as well as the cost.
If we fabricate something incorrect we prefer to provide the corrected item rather than process a refund but we will process a refund if we fabricated something incorrectly. We do not provide a refund if you decide you don’t like it. Everything is custom made so there is no “stock” to return a fabricated project to for resale later.
Unless noted otherwise or specifically requested our dimensional tolerances are 1/32″ – 1/16″ and our angular tolerances are 1-2 degrees. We strive to be exactly accurate but depending upon material and requirements that is typically the furthest we will allow something to leave our building outside tolerance. If your tolerance is much lower, ie 1/8″ or greater letting us know can save you money, while having a tolerance higher than 1/32″ will increase your cost typically. Please specify your tolerance when requesting a quote.
If you have an open account with us you can provide a PO and you will be billed after completion under the terms of your account. If you would like to setup an account please email your estimator and request an account and they can send your the paperwork to get one established.
If you are a new customer or do not have an account, a 50% deposit is required to start work with the remaining balance due upon completion. You are welcome to pay in full upfront if it makes more sense for your project.
We accept credit card, check and ACH if you do not have an established account for billing. We are cashless.
This is almost impossible to answer as it is fully dependent upon the overall size and design of the item. Smaller sections of anything will almost always be more expensive per foot than larger items. Same applies to quantities. A single small part will be more expensive on a per piece level than 100 small parts. Everything is custom made to order so we have no standard pricing we can provide.
